How Old is the Wastewater Treatment Plant?
White in-ground tank on left was the Primary Digester (abandoned in 1983). It now is holding the metal lid that was originally covering the Biosolid Tank (built in 1973) on the right until the supports rusted and failed.
Biosolids Dewatering & Treatment (Built in 1984). Concrete building no longer meets building standards.
Foreground: abandon Oxidation Tower (built in 1973). Background: Blower Room and Secondary Clarification tanks (built in 1984). The rectangular tanks are undersized and at the end of their useful life for current permit requirements.

City of Sandpoint Wastewater Treatment Plant Overview
Wastewater Treatment Plant
The City of Sandpoint’s wastewater plant has served our community for over 70 years. Much of the equipment, built in the 1950s–80s, is at the end of its life. Pumps, clarifiers, and electrical systems are at the end of their useful life and increasingly prone to breakdown. The plant can no longer reliably meet today’s needs or keep pace with state and federal requirements to protect local waterways.
